Teaching Achievement Contest for Volunteer Chinese Teachers in Mongolia Held in Ulan Bator
Sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and organized by ¡°Home for Chinese volunteer teachers in Mongolia¡±, the 2017-2018 Teaching Achievement Contest for the Volunteer Chinese Teachers in Mongolia was held on May 6th at Ikh Zasag International University in Ulan Bator. 85 volunteer Chinese teachers and over 300 students from 27 primary, secondary schools and universities, including the CRI Confucius Classroom at Ulan Bator Yucai Middle School, Mongolia-China Friendship School for Overseas Chinese No.1 Middle School of Ulan Bator, Mongolian University of Science and Technology and Defense University of Mongolia attended this event.

The leader of the volunteer Chinese teachers Ulan Gerel said in the speech that this contest provided a stage for the students to perform to evaluate the teaching results of the teachers and to show the achievements made by the students learning Chinese. I t can also encourage the volunteer teachers to exchange their experience in teaching Chinese and spreading Chinese cultures, thus making more contributions to the cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The contestants were divided into three groups, namely the Chinese school group, the senior group and the junior group. After intense competition, the stage play, ¡°Princess Pearl Offering Birthday Felicitations¡±, by the contestant from CRI Confucius Classroom at Ulan Bator Yucai Middle School, the song and dance, ¡°Confession Ballon¡±, by the students from Mongolian University of Science and Technology, and the sketch, ¡°Joy Entertainment¡±, by Tauride Middle School won the competitions for the Chinese school group, the senior group, and the junior group, respectively. Six Chinese volunteer teachers, Zhang Zisha, Lu Chengjun, Ge Jingjing, Li Li, Zhang Jiabing, were awarded with the First Prize for Excellent Instructors.

Senior translators and young sinologists from Mongolia, heads of Chinese teaching sections at the Mongolian schools, and Hanban-sponsored teachers served as judges in this contest.
Zhu Junli, Director of the Confucius Institute at National University of Mongolia, Bao Aidong, Director of the Confucius Institute at Mongolian State University of Education, Na Buqi, Chinese Director of CRI Confucius Classroom at Ulan Bator Yucai Middle School, Jiang Xianmei, President of Mongolia-China Friendship School for Overseas Chinese, and Chojilmaa, Dean of Department of Asian studies, College of Foreign Languages in Mongolian University of Science and Technology, together with other school leaders, watched the contest.
During the 2017-2018 school year, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) sent a total of 165 volunteer teachers to teach Chinese in Mongolia, among which, apart from the volunteers at Confucius Institutes, 112 are teaching at 43 schools and colleges in the country.
